February 2024

In January, I started my year off wit a nighttime market at a local coffee shop. I had an absolute blast! I got to meet so many local makers and got a glimpse into a new side of my community that I hadn’t seen before. There truly was magic in the air with all of the talent that attended.

In February, my own studio building will resume hosting creative sessions every week on Tuesdays. Every Tuesday night at 5:30 pm, Main street studios will open their door until 8 PM so that local creatives can hang out and make stuff with other Creatives. I’m extremely excited to see who drops in to create with us. I plan on attending as many of these evenings as physically possible. If you’re in or around Fitchburg, MA, come say hi and bring a project to work on with us!

In personal news, I’m currently running a sale of rather impractical and astonishing proportions in my shop. I have approximately 90 items including all of my original paintings marked down at 60% off. For many of my pieces, that barely covers the cost of shipping, so why am I doing this? Simply put: I need room. I’ve been creating and building my current inventory since about 2018. Artistically, so much about my style has changed since then. I’ve changed a lot physically too. I have so much work that I never had the energy to properly promote just sitting around my studio, and that work doesn’t properly reflect who I am as an artist or a person anymore. I also have work I never even showed anyone because I simply forgot about it. (oops) After this sale, all of that work will likely go into grab bags where what’s inside is a mystery. Some pieces will also become permanently unavailable as I’ll reclaim them for use in my own home. More importantly though, I’ll have space in my studio and in my shop to create more things. I’ll be switching up my inventory to mostly include items that I can reproduce easily such as stickers so that I have more time and energy to devote to making each individual painting. This will also open up some time to work on commissions and custom pieces. I’ll spend this month working up a price scale for commissions, taking product photos, creating listings for stickers, and generally preparing my shop for a grand re-opening next month. I’ve never had the energy or the time to properly put into my shop and my branding, so this is an exciting new journey for me. I really hope that this shift makes my work more accessible to everyone (including myself lol). If you have any ideas for things you’d like to see more of or works you’d like to commission me for, you’re always welcome to send me an email at Katarinaart@icloud.com. I would love to read all o your suggestions!

Until next month <3
